SPONSORED PRIZES

Share your ideas for your chance to win

Not only do students have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts – there are prizes to be one. By the end of the program – students will have made new friends, built connections with industry experts, tried and failed (countless times), learned a whole host of transferable skills and presented their business ideas to an audience.

Rapid design sprints

Designed for students, the Young Entrepreneurs Boot Camp gives students the skills, confidence and connections to build a career in entrepreneurship. Over 5 days, we’ll take students through an immersive and rapid design sprint (a process used by Google) to flesh out their idea. Each day builds on the previous day and includes a combination of theory, practice, individual and group work.

DAY 1: Find a problem worth solving

Students will hear from several guest speakers to learn about some of the biggest challenges facing people, the planet and society. Teams will be formed and students will start diving into the problem space – We teach students to love the problem, not the solution!

DAY 2: Define your value proposition

With teams formed and a problem worth solving selected, teams will begin exploring ideas and getting into the mind of their customer. On Day 2, we get students out of the building and out of their comfort zone. Supported by mentors and coaches, students will interview people on the streets of Bulimba – learning how to ask open questions, be curious and gather insights from multiple conversations.

DAY 3: Build and test prototypes

With a well defined problem statement, and a bunch of ideas, teams will begin forming those ideas into prototypes they can test with their ideal customers. Day 3 is all about iteration and failing fast. We teach students to embrace failure as an important part of the process – seeing it as a way to improve their business.

DAY 4: Validate and iterate the business plan

With a prototype in hand, we’ll have teams test their ideas with ideal customers. Day 4 is a free day for teams to work on their idea from home or at the community centre.

DAY 5: Build and pitch your business

Students will begin forming their pitch – a 5 minute presentation targeted towards a panel of judges. This multi-media presentation is an opportunity to practice speaking with confidence and tell a compelling narrative. On Friday evening, family, friends and coaches are invited to attend the showcase to hear the business ideas and attend the awards ceremony.

Hear what others have to say

I loved it! It’s a great experience that challenges you and pushes you outside your comfort zone in the best way.  I enjoyed making new friends and diving deeper into key topics. It was awesome and I would do it again!
Phoebe

High School Student

Over the course of the four-day intensive Young Entrepreneurs Program delivered at the Bulimba Community Centre, my shy and typically reserved 14-year-old daughter exhibited remarkable dedication, motivation, and commitment, which truly impressed me.

The opportunity to collaborate with peers and mentors, coupled with the supportive environment fostered by the Bulimba Community Centre, played a crucial role in her personal growth. It was clear that the program not only enhanced her entrepreneurial skills but also bolstered her confidence and resilience. Thank you for providing a valuable and enriching experience that will benefit her for years to come.
